A Tribute

To the most wonderful man I can’t wish Happy Father’s Day too, I love you Grandpa. Brigadier General Allen Jack Newcomb was, and always will be, my biggest fan. He would have done anything for his Miss. Legs, his Miss. Bi-zee (busy). Names created for the fact that even as a little girl I was all legs and I never stopped. Well grandpa, I haven’t slowed down, and those legs have just gotten longer.  I would give anything to hear you tease me with those sweet little nicknames, the ones I would always roll my eyes at and give you “the look” for because I thought I was too old or too mature for them. Truth is, I’m not, I will always be your little girl. I know that you are watching over me and are with me always. I wish you could be here today, because I know that you would be so proud of me and all that I am doing. I’ve been keeping my grades up during all my training and racing, because you taught me that being a smart, respectable, polite young woman is an utmost priority.

Thank you for showing me what it means to be a truly generous and kind human being. Thank you for the support I needed in doing what I love. All the goggles, swimsuits, running shoes, and team fees you funded have not gone to waste. Thank you for letting me nap on you for hours and not moving a muscle till I would wake up. Thank you for all the newspaper articles, quotes and small things that let me know you thought about me everyday. Thank you for loving me always, no matter what.

I love you, I miss you. Happy Father’s Day grandpa.
